As a popular and successful school we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking assistant leader of PE to contribute to the successful teaching of materials based technology courses across the school.

Thomas Gainsborough School have been part of the Sport England funded teacher training programme for the past 4 years. We were secondary school of the year 2019 at the Suffolk Sports Awards. We are also this host school for the local School Games Organiser.

The school continues to invest in high quality professional development and provides a range of employee benefits. The school is very fortunate to manage the on-site leisure centre for the benefit of the school and the local community. This includes extensive playing fields, a recently refurbished fitness studio, dance studio, climbing wall, two indoor halls and an outdoor pool.

The successful candidate would be able to teach at least some of KS3, GCSE and Vocational Level 2 & 3 Physical Education. They would also be contribute to the quality of teaching, quality of experience and the progress of students across the department.

You will be required to:

  • To lead groups of students to make outstanding progress across all key stages
  • To develop and contribute to the range of activities and support for students across the curriculum in areas related to Physical Education

Therefore, we are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of teaching Physical Education at Key Stages 3-5
  • Has a record of raising attainment of their students
  • Has an up to date knowledge of curriculum developments, current education policy and progression routes for business students.
  • Is committed to high standards and ensuring that all groups of students make progress
  • Is willing to work flexibly
  • Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Is able to solve problems and be proactive
  • Has an excellent sense of humour
