Thomas Gainsborough School are encouraging all Year 11 students to sign up to the new Department for Education Records Service.

What does the DfE Education Record Contain?

A DfE education record includes:

  • Personal details such as name, date of birth, and address
  • Schools attended
  • Official qualifications, including GCSEs, A levels, BTECs, diplomas, and Functional Skills
  • Support needs or special educational requirements
  • Updates on exam results and provisional grades, which remain provisional until awarding organisations issue certificates.

Why should I sign up to the new service?

Before starting a course at a sixth form or college, learners can share their record digitally with the institution.

By using these services, learners can securely access, manage, and share their education records, ensuring smooth transitions between schools, colleges, and training providers.

How do I sign up?

Go to wherever you download your phone apps and download DfE Education Record.

Bring your phone at lunchtimes to careers or to staff at the piano at lunch or during registration on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. We will generate a QR code that you can scan to access your records.

GCSE results will be available on the app from 11am on results day (Thursday 20 August), however, we would strongly encourage students to come into school in person from 9am to receive their results as the app will not show you the marks achieved, and students will benefit from the support of staff to discuss 'next steps'.
