Thomas Gainsborough School are looking to appoint a School Games Organiser (SGO) and sports coach to join our team from September 2019. As the SGO you will be responsible for the delivery of school games and competition to primary schools within the partnership. The SGO role is centred on the following 5 core tasks:
- Increasing engagement in School Games
- Developing competitive opportunities
- Increasing and sustaining participation
- Workforce — Broadening the range of participation opportunities
- Establishing key performance indicators
The sports coach will be supporting the PE team with running activities in the extra-curricular programme, support with school teams, and delivering some coaching sessions to students which are supported by an exit route into an external club. This exit route will be a community session run from the Cornard Leisure Centre, most probably from 5-6 on an evening.
As a member of the PE department you will be joining our exceptionally successful PE team which has access to excellent facilities within the Thomas Gainsborough sports complex. These include a 5 badminton court Sports Hall, Fitness Centre, Dance Studio, Climbing Wall, outdoor swimming pool, all weather pitch and extensive playing fields. We offer a rich and diverse PE curriculum programme developed and delivered by a talented and committed team of professionals with opportunities to teach across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5.
The successful person will need to be highly organised, able to assess priorities and to manage a range of projects at any one time. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deliver projects within timescales are essential. This post is offered on a fixed term contract until August 2020 and will report to the head of PE. The SGO is a part time role, 22.5 hours per week, term time only and will be paid at scale point 14, £12.36 per hour, full time equivalent £23,836. The sports coach is a 15 hrs per week role, paid at scale point 1, £9.00 per hour, full time equivalent £17,364. In total, this role is a 37 hrs per week, with a salary of £21,713.
