Our school's vision is to build a culture of meaningful talk. Oracy skills empower young people to become the best versions of themselves, to understand different perspectives and demonstrate empathy. We aim to make meaningful oracy practice part of every lesson, in every subject, at every key stage. We hope that our young people will leave Thomas Gainsborough School as confident, empathetic, sensitive speakers, who can use their interpersonal skills to flourish in the wider world.
This week we have been celebrating and promoting the power of talk in assemblies. Students have been encouraged to speak out about their own personal experiences and what has made and shaped their lives. Three Year 11 students spoke about the importance of talking and wrote their own powerful and inspiring speeches for other students to listen to.
